One Map Policy Summit 2024
Citieslab contributed as a co-organizer in one of the key programs within the One Map Policy Summit 2024, supporting the implementation of the Geospatial Challenge—an intensive competition centered on the use of integrated thematic maps under the One Map Policy framework.
The Geospatial Challenge was designed to explore how spatial data can inform and strengthen national development policies and programs. The competition revolved around four main themes:
- Urban Areas as Centers of Economic Growth
- Energy, Water, and Food Security
- Environmental Quality
- Disaster and Climate Resilience
This initiative was led by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of Indonesia in collaboration with Indonesian Association of Planners and Indonesian Surveyors Institute, with Citieslab playing a key role as co-organizer.
The competition brought together eight finalist teams representing leading universities, including Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Indonesia, and Universitas Diponegoro. Participants were challenged to develop their proposals within a limited timeframe of just 3.5 hours, culminating in final presentations delivered before a panel of judges and a live audience.
More broadly, the One Map Policy (OMP) Summit 2024 served as a multi-stakeholder forum to discuss the sustainability of the One Map Policy implementation and to address challenges in the utilization of geospatial data for Indonesia’s development. The One Map Policy itself encompasses four key stages: data compilation and integration coordinated by the Geospatial Information Agency, data synchronization coordinated by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, and data sharing and utilization also coordinated by the Geospatial Information Agency.
