CITIESTALK: Bernardus Djonoputro - Mencari Model Pembiayaan Ibu Kota Baru di Indonesia
This series of Citiestalk discussed a plan to develop ten new cities and metropolitan areas, as well as the discourse on moving the capital city. Through Indonesia’s Ministry of National Development Planning, Indonesia’s government planned to develop ten areas/regions into a new metropolitan area to decrease the regional disparity. The talks presented Bernardus Djonoputro as the moderator and Indonesian and International experts with various backgrounds.
The discussion summarized that many financing alternatives encourage accelerating new city development. Private sector participation through the PPP scheme should be the government’s primary strategy and should be supported by relevant regulations. Moreover, a brand-new and breakthrough financing regulation should be established to help the development of new capital cities, and seeking funding from global players is also necessary to accelerate the growth, given the examples from many other successful cases in other countries. The discussion aims to enrich the discourse on financing new city development in Indonesia.
